Pagasa not ruling out ‘Enteng’ landfall over Bicol, Eastern Visayas
GUINOBATAN, Albay—The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Adminstration (Pagasa) is not ruling out possibilities of Tropical Depression Enteng making a landfall in Bicol Region or Eastern Visayas.
The state weather bureau said in press briefing on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. that the TD Enteng was last seen at 120 kms. North Northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar or 150 kms. East of Catarman, Northern Samar with winds reaching 45 kms. per hour and gust up to 55 kms. per hour.
Enteng is moving northwestward at the speed of 30 kms. per hour.
Tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 was raised over parts of Bicol and Eastern Visayas.
In Luzon, Pagasa hoisted tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 over the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Presentacion, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Calabanga, Naga City, Pili, Bombon, Magarao, Ocampo, Baao, Nabua, Bula, Balatan, Bato, Milaor, Minalabac, Camaligan, Saglay, Iriga City, Buhi, Tigaon, San Jose, Goa, Siruma, Tinambac, Lagonoy, Canaman, Gainza, San Fernando), Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Burias Island, and Ticao Island.
In Visayas, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and the northeastern portion of Leyte (Babatngon, San Miguel, Tacloban City, Alangalang, Santa Fe, Palo, Barugo) are also currently under signal no. 1.
By 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, it is expected to over the coastal waters of Gigmoto town in Catanduanes.
By noon tomorrow, Sept. 2, it will bring 100 to 200 millimeters of rain in the provinces of Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran.
It is expected to develop into a tropical storm by evening tomorrow, when it is East Southeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
According to Pagasa, the highest possible wind signal that may be hoisted during the passage of Tropical Depression Enteng is Wind Signal No. 2 or 3.
