Signal no. 2 up in 17 Bicol towns as ‘Enteng’ intensifies, decelerates near CamNorte

GUINOBATAN, Albay—Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 was raised over 17 towns in Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte as Tropical Storm “Enteng” (international name: Yagi) intensified and decelerated while in the waters off the coast of Vinzons, Camarines Norte, on Monday morning.

In their 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that “Enteng” was moving west-northwestward at 10 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour.

Signal no. 2 was raised over the Camarines Norte towns of Vinzons, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Talisay, Daet, Labo, Paracale, Jose Panganiban, San Vicente, Basud, and Mercedes; and the Camarines Sur towns of Garchitorena, Caramoan, Presentacion, San Jose, Lagonoy, Tinambac, and Siruma.

Meanwhile, Signal no. 1 was still in effect over the rest of the Camarines provinces; Albay; Sorsogon; Catanduanes; and Masbate City, Baleno, Aroroy, and the islands of Ticao and Burias in Masbate.

There were no landfalls recorded, but Pagasa is not yet ruling out possibilities that “Enteng” will make a landfall over Cagayan or Isabela on Monday afternoon.

Tropical Storm ‘Enteng’ has caused flooding in Naga City, Camarines Sur. As of press time, Triangulo village remains submerged under 6 inches of floodwater.

Savage Mind, an independent bookstore in the city, was not spared from the flood as its special section was damaged.

No reports and the extent of damage throughout the region has been published or announced yet, but as “Enteng” moves northward, Bicol authorities are expected to release updates.
